Site Clearance and topsoil strip

Site Clearance and topsoil strip of 15 hectares; Works included excavation of pre-earthworks ditches and temporary SUDs pond to prevent surface water run-off polluting local watercourses during construction; Site topsoil strip undertaken with Archaeologist “watching brief” supervision;

Bulk Earthworks

Bulk Earthworks of 550,000m3 of excavation; Fill placed and compacted to meet required MCV & 15% CBR requirements, with remaining surplus material placed in onsite landscape areas. Excavation included 100,000m3 to construct permanent attenuation pond; Excavation of 65,000m3 of rock which was crushed and utilised as capping 6F5 across the site to make the site weather resistant;
Scope of works included responsibility for 3rd party independent, onsite material testing;

Formation

Trimmed 100,000m2 of formation majority of which was on rock;

Bespoke lump sum subcontract which included all Plant, Labour & supervision; earthworks management (mass haul & programme management); setting-out of earthworks activities; weather and material suitability risk.
Overall 16-week programme; after 6 weeks 25,000m2 handed over for warehousing; and 15,000m2 every 2 weeks thereafter;
