Duo Processing provide a comprehensive unit cost processing facility at Roan Edge in Kendal with a tailored solution suited to the customer’s needs. Crushing and screening of blasted gritstone is carried out to make minus14mm material. The material then gets moved away from the blast face to the dedicated stockpile area where it is washed to make clean 14mm, 10mm, 6mm and sand, ready to be loaded out.

About the site

The 42-hectare site at Roan Edge contains gritstone also known as siliceous sandstone, this material has a high polished stone value of 60, making it useful for roadstone and other highly desirable materials. The site has approximately 14 million tonnes of rock left in the reserve to produce material for the UK’s roads infrastructure and other industries for years to come.

Project Success

Duo Processing have run, controlled and managed Roan Edge successfully for over 10 years with a team of highly skilled plant supervisors and industry professionals. Supervisors on site monitor the wash plants, water treatment plants and supervise the crushing operations. Plant operators operate the plant machinery across the whole site. Making it run efficiently and to its maximum capacity. This site is producing over 1200 tonnes per day, five and a half days a week.

Equipment used

A selection of Powerscreen jaw crushers cone crushers and screeners. A selection of Doosan equipment, including loading shovels, excavators and ADT’s. Aggresand 165 triple deck, a thickener tank and filter plant press.
