Project details

Duo Operations have supplied Colas with several long-term hired plant equipment to assist their operation and keep it running smoothly.
The DA40, Doosan Articulated Dump Truck supports the haulage between the primary and secondary crushing operations.
The DX380 Doosan crawler excavator loads the secondary crusher and assists with breaking.

About the site

Carnsew Quarry is the largest inland quarry in Cornwall, located toward the centre of the developing area lying between Redruth, Falmouth and Truro. The quarry produces quality coarse-grained silver-grey granite, meeting the demands in different sectors of the construction industry. Having a mobile crushing plant onsite enables greater flexibility in production and the ability to meet the ever-expanding market.
Material quality from the quarry is actively managed and meets the required standards and specifications required by the industry and the customer.

Telematics

All Doosan equipment supplied by Duo Operations comes standard with advanced state-of-the-art telematics. Duo Operations report directly to Colas on a weekly basis. This supplies Colas with information on fuel efficiencies, fuel levels, fault codes, warnings, and for the ADT’s it shows load counts. All this useful information enables Colas to plan and maximise the profitability at Carnsew Quarry. It gives them a good indication of the cost per tonne.

Duo Operations also provide Colas with details on any operator faults and offer advice and feedback to prevent any future maintenance issues.
